Performing Life Monthly Newsletter - February 2011

Highlights:

February was a tumultuous month, not only for Performing Life but for all of Bolivia.  The city was paralyzed for weeks by constant strikes and blockades from the public transportation syndicates.  We experienced natural disasters in every quarter, including intensive flooding, landslides, and infrastructure damage brought on by extremely heavy rains.  Youth have not been able to attend school or PL classes for weeks.  Finally, things are returning to normal and we have been able to make progress again.

Thanks to DoSomething.org, Performing Life will be able to expand our performance options and activities in 2011!

Winning the Do Something grant will allow Performing Life, Inc, to expand our inventory by 2 unicycles, a set of aerial silks, and nine rubber juggling/bouncy balls. With this addition, we will have enough unicycles for the new 2011 Quillacollo class, be able to offer our first aerial arts workshops, and expand our collection of juggling materials. The aim of this additional class is to allow more youth to be involved in the Performing Life project as well as expand activities and increase apeal to youth in need.

Thanks so much DoSomething.org for making this possible!
